STI at Year High 3030

STI went up to as high of 3027.07, just few points below STI's one year high of 3035.78. STI currently hovering at 3000 level. There are some profit taking going on but not in heavy selling mode, STI facing upside resistance as well. Market is expected to be tricky and tough to trade.

Hi,
I will appreciate if you can enlighten me on what 'one year high' means? Does it mean the high for the calendar year of 2012 (ie. from 1 Jan 2012 to 17 Jul 2012), or the high of one full year (ie. from 17 Jul 2011 to 17 Jul 2012)?

Thank you.

Hi FJ,

Really need your help in clarifying my understanding of the words used by the pros.
What 'one year high' means? Does it mean the high for the calendar year of 2012 (ie. from 1 Jan 2012 to 17 Jul 2012), or the high of one full year (ie. from 17 Jul 2011 to 17 Jul 2012)?

Thank you.

Hi Sorry for the late reply. One year high means one year backbards from current. not a calendar yr. just indicate the period of time when price hit new high or new low.

hope this can help you.

Hi FJ,

Thanks for your reply. Your explaination is the same as what I thought the term means.

I am not trying to find fault, just asking a genuine question to make sure I am understanding correctly. Your post seem to contradict the explaination you gave. If look backwards one year, should look back to 17/07/2011. During this time, the high was on 01/08/2011 at 3227.

Hope you can clear my confusion. Thanks.

Hi Anonymous, I'm uncomfortable to call my readers Anonymous esp when they leave me a comment. Especially for this kind of good comment. It's actually 11month high. My mistake. I know it's 11mth only but just give it a "round up" figure... Again, you are right. thank you.
