If you read the weekly wrap and would rather have a named person behind your account than a support queue, this is how it works.

Why open through me

  • A representative you can call. Trades placed by phone during market hours, not a ticket number and a 48-hour reply.
  • Written weekly coverage. SGX, Hang Seng constituents and US sectors — the tables you see on this blog, every Sunday, free whether or not you're a client.
  • Hong Kong and China, properly covered. Most Singapore retail platforms treat HK as an afterthought. It's half of what I write about.
  • English and Mandarin.

What you won't get from me: buy and sell signals, a private tips group, or a promise about returns. If that's what you're after, I'm the wrong broker for you.

What you can trade

Most clients come for Singapore, Hong Kong and US shares, ETFs and REITs. Beyond that, Maybank Securities offers a wider shelf including bonds and fixed income, margin financing, Stock Connect access and leveraged products — some of which carry eligibility conditions or minimum sizes, and not all of which suit every investor.

Rather than reproduce the details here where they'd go out of date, the official pages are the place to read them:

Commission rates, platform features and eligibility are all published on the Maybank Securities site and take precedence over anything I say here. Happy to walk you through any of it.

How it works

1
Get in touch first

Email me before you apply. There are several account types — cash, pre-funded, margin, CFD and forex — and two minutes on what you actually intend to trade saves you opening the wrong one.

2
Apply through the official forms

Singapore citizens, PRs and pass holders can apply online with Singpass/Myinfo. Quote my name so the account routes to my desk. Foreigners and corporate accounts go through a manual process — I'll take you through the documents.

3
Account opens

I'll call once it's live to set up platform access and go through order types before you place your first trade.

Questions first? Email fanjun@maybank.com and I'll reply within one business day, or call Maybank Securities on +65 6231 5888 and ask for me.

Verifying that it's really me. I will never ask you to transfer money to a personal bank account, an e-wallet or a crypto wallet. Funds move only into your own Maybank Securities account through official channels. I do not run paid signal groups, guaranteed-return schemes or “VIP” trading rooms, and I will never approach you first on WhatsApp or Telegram. Check my representative number against the MAS Financial Institutions Directory before acting on anything sent in my name.

Risks to understand first

Trading listed securities carries risk, including loss of your entire investment. Foreign-listed shares add currency risk. Leveraged products such as margin financing, CFDs and daily leverage certificates amplify losses as well as gains and can cost you more than you deposit — they are not suitable for most investors, and some products are restricted to those who meet specific eligibility criteria. Past performance, mine or the market's, tells you nothing reliable about future returns.

This page is an invitation to contact me about opening a securities trading account. It is not an offer, recommendation or solicitation to buy or sell any security, and does not take account of your objectives, financial situation or particular needs. Views published on this blog are my own and do not represent Maybank Securities Pte Ltd. Product terms, rates and eligibility are governed by the firm's official documentation, which prevails over anything stated here.
