Shanghai Hongkong Stock Connect Will be Start on Nov 17

It was announced today that the long-waited Shanghai-Hongkong Connect(沪港通) is scheduled to start on next Mon Nov 17.

Weekly Wrap

Weekly performance for major indexes for the week ended 7 Nov.

STI weekly chart as below. It hit 3300 resistance this week and closed a doji candlestick(resistance), continue look for 3278-3300 as support area in coming week. Immeadite support is at 3278.

HSI retraced for the week, major uptrend is well intact. Immediate support 23300.

Singapore REITs Valuation


Healthcare Stocks

Singapore Exchange (SGX) lists 23 GICS designated healthcare stocks with a combined market capitalisation of S$25.7 billion and generated an average 2014 year-to-date (YTD) total return of 9.6%. According to the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS), the healthcare industry comprises health care equipment & services and pharmaceuticals and biotechnology & life sciences companies. This is the same benchmark used to classified stocks on SGX StockFacts.

Out of the current 23 stocks, eight are listed on Catalist with the latest addition of QT Vascular in April 2014 and TalkMed Group in January 2014. In addition, SGX-listed stocks IHH Healthcare Berhad and Raffles Medical Group are in the top five largest capitalised stocks of the GICS healthcare sector in the ASEAN region.
Among the 23 stocks, the five largest capitalised healthcare stocks are IHH Healthcare Berhad, Raffles Medical Group, Tianjin Zhongxin Pharmaceutical Group Corporation, Haw Par Corporation and Biosensors International Group. They have a combined market capitalisation of S$22.3 billion and generated average 2014 YTD total return of 6.2%.

In the year thus far, the five best performing healthcare stocks were Health Management International, Singapore Medical Group, Q&M Dental Group Singapore, Religare Health Trust and TalkMed Group. They have a combined market capitalisation of S$1.9 billion and generated median 2014 YTD total return of 40.6%. (Click here to view more)



Oil&Gas Stocks

The three largest capitalised exploration and production stocks are KrisEnergy, Rex International Holdings and Linc Energy. They have a combined market capitalisation of S$2.0 billion and hence make up more than two thirds of the market capitalisation of this oil & gas segment. (click here to view more)

Weekly/Monthly Wrap

World indices react positively and surged up after Bank of Japan(BoJ) announced to expand its stimulation plan on Friday.

Oct 14 just ended, below table shows the monthly indices performance. HSI was the most bullish index, with 1065 points or 4.6% up. HSI is expected to move up further with 25k for immediate target.

Shanghai added 2.3% to CLOSE above 2400, FIRST time in 32 months( since Feb 2012). It's the 6th consecutive month up so far. It's remarkable.

The US three major indices DJI, SPX and COMP added 2.0%, 2.3% and 3.1% respectively. The DJI and COMP hit new high whereas SPX is at its historical high.

STI, on the other hand, is the one and only index closed in red for Oct, albeit little down with 2.5 or 0.1%.  STI immediate resistance is at 3277-3300. More upside is expected IF it can stay above this area.
